2004-06-23 [Saint Richard]: I don't think I'm going to wait until I'm done. I've noticed that my stories change after a few chapters, so I have to go back and revamp before I'm really done.
2004-06-23 [mywolfalways]: I find that it helps to revamp if you hit a writer's block because it helps you refocus where you were headed or change where you are heading.
2004-06-23 [Mackenzie]: I started a storie yesterday, cause elftown was down, and I was bored. Its pretty good so far...
2004-06-23 [mywolfalways]: I'm working on my entry for the Myth Blending Contest.
2004-06-23 [Mackenzie]: cool!
2004-06-23 [Blaze the Nameless]: This looks interesting! I might check this out.
2004-06-23 [Mackenzie]: k.
2004-06-24 [Tyrana]: Hello hello... I feel like I'm an advertiser, here, but if anyone has a bit of time, I'd strongly suggest that you read the story in [T87]'s diary... it's a long one, but it's brilliantly written, and he'd really appreciate it. Thanks! ^_^
2004-06-25 [Blaze the Nameless]: Finally! ET is up!
2004-06-29 [Mackenzie]: yay!
2004-06-29 [mywolfalways]: Welcome aboard, [Tehrror].
2004-06-29 [Mackenzie]: ...
2004-06-29 [thestranger]: may I place an ad here? I've got a nifty banner I want to show off, but I wanted to know if it was ok to put it on the comments.
2004-06-30 [Mackenzie]: yes
2004-06-30 [eyes of frost]: -yawns- hello all.
2004-06-30 [mywolfalways]: Yes, you may advertise, [thestranger]. Thank you for asking first. ^_^
2004-06-30 [Mackenzie]: :)
2004-06-30 [thestranger]: Write Club (based a little of Fight Club)
2004-06-30 [Blaze the Nameless]: LOL
2004-06-30 [mywolfalways]: Everybody, go check out the Write Club. It's actually a really cool idea. I completely support it. I've already joined.
2004-07-01 [Mackenzie]: lol!
2004-07-01 [mywolfalways]: Welcome to the page, [VorpalBlade910].
2004-07-01 [VorpalBlade910]: hehe don't i feel special now, thanks [mywolfalways]
2004-07-01 [Mackenzie]: hey, doesn't that mean you talking about it?
2004-07-01 [Blaze the Nameless]: Yes it does
2004-07-01 [Mackenzie]: llol!
2004-07-01 [mywolfalways]: ooops! LOL Guess I'm going to be skinned. LOL
2004-07-01 [VorpalBlade910]: nooooooooo
2004-07-02 [Mackenzie]: ....
2004-07-02 [mywolfalways]: In other news: WCProgress. This is where you can post if you've reached your goals, or just to talk about your goals. For example, I just finished written page 200 yesterday on "Elven Folklore" three days ahead of expected time.
2004-07-02 [Mackenzie]: cool.
2004-07-03 [spoiledvamp27]: I would like to join this wiki, but I'm confused as to how I can do that. help please.
2004-07-03 [BlacK_HearT]: i'm pretty sure u just add ur name on the top of the page
2004-07-03 [mywolfalways]: Welcome aboard, [spoiledvamp27].
2004-07-03 [BlacK_HearT]: *waves estatically to spoiledvamp*
2004-07-03 [spoiledvamp27]: Yay! I'm proud to be a member. I'm putting up my badge right now.
2004-07-03 [Saint Richard]: Am I the only one posting to WCEveryStory right now? Some one please join me.
2004-07-03 [Mackenzie]: .... can't... can't type well enough.
2004-07-04 [mywolfalways]: [Mackenzie], it doesn't really matter if you can type well or not. The point of WCEveryStory is to have fun and help you get better.
2004-07-04 [Saint Richard]: One sentence a day, to add to the story.
2004-07-04 [Mackenzie]: ok... cool
2004-07-04 [Cat0132]: wheee i joined!
2004-07-04 [thestranger]: Awesome! Welcome!
2004-07-04 [Scooz]: Welcome, what's up stranger?
2004-07-04 [thestranger]: nm... hmmm I havent added to WCEveryStory in a while
2004-07-04 [Cat0132]: hehe its really hot outside...and my dad just told me i need to was windows (?) thats whats up...interesti
2004-07-04 [Scooz]: couldn't be as bad as mine, lol. I get to do chores all day long, not much fun on the 4th of July.
2004-07-04 [Cat0132]: o yeah, it IS the fourth...hmm
2004-07-04 [Scooz]: Lol, had your coffee yet?
2004-07-04 [thestranger]: Its raining here, so my fourth plans were pretty much ruined
2004-07-04 [Scooz]: Really? It's raining here to and mine are still goin but they won't happen til 7 pm
2004-07-04 [thestranger]: Ah, we were supposed to have a picnic around 2, but it was pouring
2004-07-04 [Cat0132]: i its sunny here! and no i hadnt had my coffee :/...
2004-07-04 [Saint Richard]: It NEVER rains here. This is the Mojave Desert, and I love the rain. The best Fourth presentation I can remember was in a heavy fog just coming off a river in N Idaho. The bursts lit up the whole sky, reflecting back from everywhere. It was spectacular!
2004-07-04 [Mackenzie]: coolo! Its supposed to stop raining later today.
2004-07-05 [spoiledvamp27]: I ran away from low shooting fireworks all evening. T'was fun.
2004-07-05 [Cat0132]: haha...
2004-07-05 [Mackenzie]: hmmm, fun.
2004-07-07 [spoiledvamp27]: Yupers... tons of fun, almost geting caught on fire... hehe.. one kid di.. luckily, we were right by the river, and he just jumped in.
2004-07-07 [mywolfalways]: Welcome, [Cat0132] and [amyleewolf14].
2004-07-07 [Cat0132]: yay! im welcome!
2004-07-07 [spoiledvamp27]: Yay! *hugs* Welcome!
2004-07-08 [mywolfalways]: Welcome, [Prater].
2004-07-08 [Mackenzie]: anyone here get anything published ever?
2004-07-08 [Saint Richard]: Congrats to [mywolfalways] for the winning in the Fight Area.
2004-07-08 [mywolfalways]: ^_^ Thank you. I'm hoping to participate in more fights. It was fun.
2004-07-08 [mywolfalways]: Haven't gotten anything published yet. I'm working on the one I want to get published, as well as working on the revision.
2004-07-08 [Mackenzie]: ok... do you know of a good, inexpensive editor? if so... [Blaze the Nameless] would like tohear from you.
2004-07-08 [mywolfalways]: Welcome, [PsychoticBliss].
2004-07-08 [mywolfalways]: I don't know any editors. I wish I did. ^__^
2004-07-09 [Saint Richard]: No, I just publish on Elfwood right now. I though I'd polish my skill for a few decades or so, and hope somebody notices me. *grin*
2004-07-09 [mywolfalways]: *grins* Hey, that's a good plan, [Saint Richard]. That's part of my plan, as well. I joined Elfwood in order to get constructive criticism to improve. It has worked out very well so far.
2004-07-09 [Saint Richard]: Yeah, I've received a little help. Actually, I clicked on "FARP" at Elfwood, and there were several helpful articles. As well as reading "How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy" by Orson Scott Card. Have you heard of Card?
2004-07-09 [mywolfalways]: Card is an excellent writer. I haven't read that particular book though. I'll have to find it at the library or something.
2004-07-09 [Cat0132]: yes orson scott card is a really good writer...
2004-07-09 [Mackenzie]: My favirate of his is Enders Shadow... I love that book
2004-07-10 [Saint Richard]: I haven't read Shadow yet, but I've read the first four books in the Ender series. Absolutely fantastic. Another writer I love is Patricia McKillip.
2004-07-10 [Mackenzie]: mhm, havent heard her
2004-07-10 [Saint Richard]: She wrote the RiddleMaster of Hed, which is my favorite. But there is also Fool's Run, a sci-fi that is also astounding. Its the way she looks at the world. "Morgan looked up and the wind was the color of night." (He was lost in a blizzard.)
2004-07-11 [Mackenzie]: I like the book "the towers of the sunset. " You must read that one. Hey maybe we should start a list of book reccomendation
2004-07-11 [mywolfalways]: For the love of reading is the page you are looking for, [Mackenzie].
2004-07-11 [Mackenzie]: ok, cool!!!
2004-07-11 [Saint Richard]: Who wrote "Towers of the Sunset"?
2004-07-11 [Mackenzie]: don't remember, too lazy to check
2004-07-13 [Blaze the Nameless]: I'm back! My comp has been broke but nows it all fixed!
2004-07-14 [mywolfalways]: Yay!
2004-07-14 [Blaze the Nameless]: I'm glad you're happy.
2004-07-14 [Mackenzie]: haha!
2004-07-14 [mywolfalways]: Since the members list was getting too long on the main page it has been moved to WCMembers. You can add a short description beside your name about what you like to read/write/rel
2004-07-14 [Mackenzie]: ok.
2004-07-25 [mywolfalways]: Important question: Has anybody heard of "Xlibris" publishing? A friend at Elfwood got contacted by this company and wants to know if anybody as any information on them.
2004-07-25 [Saint Richard]: No, but I can do a quick search online. I'm fairly good at research. Whose your lucky friend?
2004-07-26 [thestranger]: Xlibris is a self publishing company. That means, you pay to publish your own book. Self published books rarely do well on shelves, because they are not mass distributed and are usually only printed in small amounts. Most authors who get rejected many times from publishers will try to strike it out on their own, and this is one of the many companies who will publish your books for a steep fee. Don't get taken off guard, they're a company, not really a publishing firm. I subscribe to Writers Digest which has ads in it all the time for them, and I get junk mail from xlibris.
2004-07-26 [mywolfalways]: Thank you for the information, [thestranger]. If anybody else has information, I would still like more. Xlibris is part of Random House, I found when I was doing research; this was confirmed by a article at CNN online, which was written in 2000.
2004-07-26 [Saint Richard]: Have you gone to their website yet? www.xlibris.co
2004-07-26 [mywolfalways]: Yeah, I went to their website and was looking at their humongous FAQ. A claim on their FAQ said they were part of Random House, so I went to look that up and found the article in 2000 by CNN online. It looks a lot more legit than some of the self-publishin
2004-07-26 [Blaze the Nameless]: BTW, have you heard of www.LuLu.com? Its also a self publishing site.
2004-07-26 [mywolfalways]: Is it legit?
2004-07-26 [Blaze the Nameless]: Don't know. Seems like it 2 me.
2004-08-01 [Khayman]: may I stick my new writing wiki, Writing Help, at the bottom of this? I've just opened it, and I need to start advertising it...
2004-08-02 [WarriorElfMaid]: lulu is an elevtronic publisher meaning, the publish ebooks, cd's, dvd's, and that sort of thing.
2004-08-02 [WarriorElfMaid]: oh yeah, and then their is a publisher called "silveron" I don't know much about it, my grandmother mentioned it at some point. one of the major book store chains owns it now. I think it was Barnes & Noble.
2004-08-02 [Blaze the Nameless]: Thats good to know. Thats a big book store.
2004-08-05 [Khayman]: Thank you!!!^^
2004-08-05 [Blaze the Nameless]: Who r u thanking?
2004-08-07 [Khayman]: lol, whoever put my wiki page up there to advertise it for me ^^
2004-08-12 [Estantia]: that's nice, I'm surprised Add A Paragraph isn't up there... can i add it?
2004-08-12 [Khayman]: mmm, it says feel free to add your own, so I guess it's prolly ok (was that there when I asked to have Writing Help put up? I could have sworn that it wasn't...*sigh
2004-09-04 [Blaze the Nameless]: This place has been so dead!
2004-09-08 [~Second.String~]: *rawr* Does anyone know where I could put a wiki that feature's writing and drawing just for display and enjoyment? No contests or anything... just a place for writers and artists to share their work and get opinions... I can't find a place where it would qualify
2004-09-27 [mywolfalways]: Comments have been cleared out. They were taking up a lot of room. Feel free to post again though. ^_~
2004-09-27 [Keyfie]: lol ok!!!!!!
2004-09-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: Hooray!
2004-09-27 [Keyfie]: so... who here has read my book? (what io have so far)
2004-09-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: Not me! Whats it about?
2004-09-27 [Keyfie]: oh a young adult that has been going to Duke for 4 years and he has the power to adjust the enviorment... bah just read it ^_<
2004-09-28 [Blaze the Nameless]: Where is it?
2004-09-29 [Keyfie]: th Chronicles of Dragons
2004-10-01 [Khayman]: mmm, if we're posting books... bah, I can't even remember the wiki page for the one...*sigh* I *think* Battle for Caerwyn, and the other is Prince of Wolves
2004-10-02 [mywolfalways]: Please place posting of your work in WCCritisismPlease. Thank you. ^_^
2004-10-02 [Ocean Dreaming]: You're so gentle ;)
2004-10-02 [Shining light]: i believe the word is subtle.
2004-10-02 [Ocean Dreaming]: Nope. I most definitely mean gentle.
2004-10-02 [Shining light]: oh, ok.
2004-10-02 [Blaze the Nameless]: I want a hippomatus for Christmas!
2004-10-03 [Keyfie]: lol
2004-10-03 [mywolfalways]: Who doesn't? ^_~
2004-10-03 [Ocean Dreaming]: I do. ^-~ I want a finished novel ready for publishing :p
2004-10-03 [Blaze the Nameless]: LOL!
2004-10-04 [WarriorElfMaid]: I want a blue roan for christmas!! hehe
2004-10-04 [Keyfie]: i want a sword... but i won't get one waaaa!!!!!!!!!
2004-10-04 [Blaze the Nameless]: That very nice
2004-10-05 [Keyfie]: how is it nice? i won't be able to get a sword! waaaaaaaaa
2004-10-05 [WarriorElfMaid]: haha, well, I won't be getting the horse, but I will be getting a way cool guiat and amp for an early birthday present!!
2004-10-06 [Keyfie]: waaaaaaaa no fair!!!!!!!!!!
2004-10-06 [mywolfalways]: I would like to run a weekly or bi-weekly contest for members of Writer'sCompanion. How many of you would participate? Pretty much, all you would get are bragging rights (maybe a badge). What does everybody think?
2004-10-06 [Keyfie]: deepends on what the contest is about
2004-10-06 [mywolfalways]: It would probably be a bi-weekly contest (1 week to write the entry; 1 week for judging). The contest would have a random prompt: words, subject, object. Anything like that. It would help people be able to write things on the fly.
2004-10-07 [Shining light]: yes, very good!
2004-10-07 [Keyfie]: *nods in approval*
2004-10-07 [mywolfalways]: I'll wait for a few more days to see who else would be interested. I would like to have at least 3 people participate in each contest. So...I have 2. I'll probably participate too, but mine can't be judged since I'll be judging with a few other people.
2004-10-08 [Keyfie]: kk ^^
2004-10-08 [thestranger]: Sounds great to me too :) Its a good writing exercise
2004-10-08 [Keyfie]: that it is!!!!!!!!!!!!
2004-10-08 [Khayman]: I'd enter (if I was on to see it...O.o)
2004-10-08 [Keyfie]: lol
2004-10-08 [mywolfalways]: Okay. I'm going to put a page in and we can discuss this further there. I'd like to try to start it on a day when most people can get on so it'll be a bit more fair. Okay? Here: WCChallenge
2004-10-08 [mywolfalways]: All links have been moved to WCLinks. This page is starting to get rather large. Thank you for your understanding.
2004-10-22 [mywolfalways]: Please visit WCMascot Contest.
2004-11-05 [mywolfalways]: The first WCChallenge will be posted up next week on Monday.
2004-11-08 [mywolfalways]: First Challenge is now up at WCChallenge
2004-12-28 [Cookieholic]: i wrote a poem based on a song, where could i put it? =P it's quite long (93 lines)
2005-01-04 [Blaze the Nameless]: Wow this page has been so dead!
2005-01-05 [Cookieholic]: yeah i noticed =P do you know the awnser to my question? =P
2005-01-05 [Blaze the Nameless]: I dunno.
2005-01-08 [Tyrana]: Hi there!! I'm sorry about just popping up at random, but I thought this would be a good place to ask for help. The Elftown Community Library needs a lot of help in the form of DONATIONS... Librarians are also helpful, but if there isn't any literature to organize, it kind of defeats the purpose! ^_^... So please, if you think you have something to contribute, drop me a message, or go to Elftown Community Library, and take a look. It's a good opportunity to have your writing read by other Elftowners, and read some of your own! Thank you!
2005-01-13 [eyes of frost]: Hey everyone I am back.
2005-01-13 [Cookieholic]: *tickles*
2005-01-13 [Blaze the Nameless]: *pokes*
2005-01-14 [Cookieholic]: *kicks*
2005-01-14 [Blaze the Nameless]: Owie!
2005-01-18 [mywolfalways]: *waves* hi
2005-01-18 [mywolfalways]: Please check MWAObjection if you are an Elfwood writer or planning on becoming one, it is very important.
2005-01-18 [Blaze the Nameless]: Okay.
2005-03-07 [mywolfalways]: Been a while since I've done anything here. I hear about Art Trade all the time, but I rarely hear about "writing trades". A new section has been added called WCTrades, where you can find those who are interested in doing a writing trade. Hope this helps the muses. ^_~
2005-03-07 [Blaze the Nameless]: Great idea! ^^
2005-03-10 [WarriorElfMaid]: How do you become an elfwood author if you are already an artist? Can I add it to my same user name or do I have to make a new one?
2005-03-10 [mywolfalways]: If you go under the "tools and utilities" area it will have several options including "join a new area" (I think that's what it's called). You have to put in a different name (I'd suggest sticking a 2 after your original log-in name, so it's not too hard to remember).
2005-03-11 [WarriorElfMaid]: Thanks, maybe I'll manage to find time to do this soon.
2005-03-12 [LoL, mate]: Hey everybody! I've just joined. Do you know a place where you can learn how to do original conclusions? I lack the talent for it, so I have, like ten stories started, and almost no intention of finishing them. yeah, that's me, alright.
2005-03-13 [Madame Black]: lol.. I had a problem with that too until I discovered that I didnt have to write a novel.. so now I do short stories
2005-03-13 [Cascading water lillies]: Don't you find with short stories though, that sometimes, as you 'get going' with a story, you realise you have to kind of 'cut short'....I also find that writing short stories you tend to have to write 'tightly'. I guess I get to know my characters after a while and want to write novel length or novella..
2005-03-13 [Madame Black]: lol.. I just write all that I can think of, plot wise, without focusing on how I can make it long enough to be a novel, and I end up with twenty pages or so... short story
2005-03-13 [Blaze the Nameless]: I love to write! Everyone thinks I'm extremely g ood.
2005-03-13 [Ocean Dreaming]: It depends on the story you're writing, I think. Sometimes they'll be short, and sometimes they'll be long. I tend to write short stories, but have several novel length ones all planned out waiting for the story to tell me what to write. Sometimes a short story I've written wants to be longer. Then it just didn't tell me everything. Both kind takes practice, though. [LoL, mate], it's the same with your endings. They take practice. As long as the ending flows naturally from the story you've written, it'll be fine. ^_^
2005-03-14 [mywolfalways]: I prefer to write long stories. None of my longer stories have yet to be finished. When I set out for a short story, it is just that. I have a certain way I write short stories in comparison to long ones. I guess, I feel better writing longer ones because I have more room to embellish them with detail.
2005-03-22 [WarriorElfMaid]: I always seem to write longer stories. One book is at least 600 pages, that I've been working on for about two years now. Another is about 90. I'm better with longer strories, because I find it hard to "cramp" my writing up into a compressed little block of solid stuff... just doesn't work with me.
2005-03-22 [Shining light]: same here, i'm all for epic novels, rather than short paperbacks.
2005-04-09 [Kaimee]: Hello, I just thought you writers might like to know: Theres a new elftown-type site open called writersco, the site is invite only and exclusively for serious writers (we'd like to keep the amount of cyber brats to a minimum) so if youre interested, check out writersco or drop me a line :)
2005-05-06 [Erestor]: Haha Kaimee you got there before me!
2005-05-07 [Kaimee]: certainly did :P
2005-05-13 [Cookieholic]: can people here please take my poll =) thanks <poll:52119>
2005-05-14 [Blaze the Nameless]: Okay *goes to take poll*
2005-05-15 [Cookieholic]: yaay =D
2005-07-05 [rustyrose2]: Question: Anyone we have to ask to add ourselves to the memers page? (Just checking...)
2005-07-06 [Cookieholic]: I don't think so o.o
2005-07-27 [Particle Girl]: This wiki seems so dead :(
2005-07-27 [chasingpeace]: i know...it's a shame, it is....
2005-07-27 [Particle Girl]: I just started writing again, too...
2005-07-27 [chasingpeace]: that sucks...
2005-07-27 [Raiff]: 0_0
2005-07-27 [Cascading water lillies]: What sort of things do you write, guys?
2005-07-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: Poetry and hopefully soon-to-be-nov
2005-07-27 [Particle Girl]: Journal stuff, I'm tryyyyying to get into fiction again.
2005-07-27 [Cascading water lillies]: Cool..I write poetry, but mainly shorts and novels :)
2005-07-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: I'd post my stuff here but I'd be afraid of it being stolen.
2005-07-27 [Cascading water lillies]: Yes..you have to be careful of plagerisum..wh
2005-07-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: True
2005-07-27 [Particle Girl]: That's why I have a "Friends Only" LiveJournal. :-D
